Re:Generation: Public Preview Live from Washington D.C. is a public event of the 2022 Monument Lab Summit in Washington D.C. This preview brings together thought leaders influencing and innovating the monument landscape through greater forms of commemoration, acknowledgment, justice, and belonging. Around the theme of “Re:Generation,” Monument Lab will gather to strategize and identify the necessity of systemic approaches to resource the work of local and coalitional public memory. At the Summit, we will be convening local leaders from around the country – including from Montgomery, Alabama; Tucson, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; St. Louis, Missouri; Queens, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Cayey, Puerto Rico; Rapid City, South Dakota; Matewan, West Virginia; and Dinétah, Four Corners Region – as a part of Monument Lab’s nationwide campaign Re:Generation, to transform the monument landscape. Monument Lab's collaborators and partners include The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Open Society Foundations, the Aspen Institute, the Center for Restorative History at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, and the National Park Service – National Mall and Memorial Parks.
