Don’t miss Monumental Concerns, a symposium hosted by artist Carrie Mae Weems at Syracuse University on Saturday, October 7, with an opening reception and presentation featuring Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman from the For Freedoms Collective on Friday, October 6 from 4-6:30pm. 

Panelists (including our Monument Lab Director Paul Farber) will explore how monuments can commemorate challenging histories and shape dominant narratives on national and local levels. Other speakers include Monument Lab collaborators Idris Brewster, Julie Ehrlich, Hamza Walker, Marisa Williamson, and more.
