Monument Lab is partnering with the Cleveland Museum of Art and Case Western Research University on the 2021 Keithley Symposium – Monumental Conversations: City Stories in Cleveland, Ohio. Our guiding questions – What is the Story of Cleveland and Where Does it Live?– will be explored through a series of plenary and panels with local and visiting artists, curators, and staff members from each institution. The symposium seeks to explore frameworks around monuments and public memory in ways to explore Cleveland’s deep and shifting stories of place. The symposium is part of a larger two-year artistic research residency with the Cleveland Museum of Art, in partnership with Case Western Research University.
